In 1987, the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee (NOICC) developed The National Career Development Guidelines, the standard for most career resources.
The National Career Development Guidelines cover three main areas
Self-knowledge
Educational and Occupational Exploration
Career Planning
Self-knowledge deals with our self-concept, interpersonal skills, growth, and development.
Educational and occupational exploration talks about the relationships between learning, work, career information
skills, job seeking, skill development, and the labor market.
Career planning includes self-assessment, career exploration, decision making, life role formation, goal setting, and the implementation of career choices.
One of the most career theories is the Holland Hexagon Model
Within the Holland's Hexagon Model, there were six types of personalities or environments.
The six vocational personalities show the relationships between Ideas, People, Data, and Things.
The first letter of each personality style or environment forms the word "RIASEC". The "RIASEC" was an acronym that stood for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional.
The basis of a variety of assessments, books, and web sites is the Holland Model.
Libraries and bookstores have a wide variety of books for children and teens grades K to 12. One book source had 159 books on different careers. A lot of the books are in the book series.

Testimonial from a Customer:
"Today I used the Holland Codes bingo and playing cards. Last week I had my students view a video that introduced them to the personality types also these types were seen by my students when they use nycareerzone.org website. Today I used the cards to reinforce the many various occupations and related these occupations to the personality types. I want my students to know about as many various occupations. They aren’t limited to what occupations they see day to day."
N.G. also indicated on the survey that playing and bingo cards were useful in teaching about Holland Codes and occupations.
