(1) To provide individualized, specific, high-quality writing instruction for students.
(2) To assist parents in the most noble endeavor of educating their own children.
Philosophy Statement:
(1) We believe that parents are the most powerful and important teachers a
student will ever have.
(2) We believe that if a parent chooses to seek the help of a teacher, the
only way to ensure success for the student is for the parent and teacher to
work closely together as a team.
(3) We believe that writing is a skill that can be taught, but that it must be
taught through specific, individualized instruction.
(4) We believe that writing is a skill that must be developed through
practice.
(5) We believe that a quality piece of writing is arrived at only through
a process of revision, in which the writer concerns him or herself with
revising or "re-seeing" the piece until it can sufficiently and accurately
accomplish the task initially envisioned by the writer.
(6) We believe that all writers, like all people, learn differently and that any
system or organization that endeavors to teach writing should therefore insist
on 100% individualized instruction.
(7) We believe that no student is capable of learning that which he or she is
uninterested or disinterested in learning. For this reason, any and all writing
assignments should be meaningful to the student.
(8) We believe that by individualizing instruction and treating young writers
with the utmost seriousness they will be inspired and motivated to produce
excellent, high-quality, meaningful work.

Reviews quoted from the WriteGuide.com Web Site
1. What age students do you work with?
Any and all, but the most common are grades three through twelve.
2. How many papers can I complete if I choose the one-month version of the Individualized Writing Program?
If you're working on the project "from scratch" (meaning your writing consultant is guiding you through EVERY step of the writing process, from start to finish), you can probably complete one full writing project per month. But if you're sending in completed drafts for feedback, you can
move through quite a few more! The speed of the program depends on the individual writer's abilities, and the frequency with which he writes to his writing consultant.
3. How can I implement your programs?
Our programs were designed to provide all the writing instruction your child needs for a given period of time (the programs have varying lengths). When you order a program, your child's writing consultant will ask you how you'd like the program to function. You can work with the consultant to plan a project, or you can simply tell him or her what sort of paper you'd like your
son or daughter to write. Either way, the consultant will then take over, and will work directly with the student through whichever program you've chosen. It's a lot like having a private writing teacher in your home, except it all takes place via e-mail. We encourage parents to be as involved as possible in planning papers and providing the consultant with input.
4. Can I use the Individualized Writing Program for a while, take a break, and then "tack" the lost time on to the end of the program?
No! We keep our prices low so that people can afford to take vacations and breaks whenever they need to do so. Your writing consultant commits him- or herself to work with your family throughout the duration of the program. It's up to you to use the program during that time. If you don't use it, that's your prerogative.
5. What sort of writing projects are handled through your programs?
Why, any and all! We have a specific list (see the chart below) of general writing projects that our consultants regularly conduct, but oftentimes students work on projects of their own invention. Most people use our programs to integrate writing instruction into content areas such as history and science.
6. How does the 24-hour guarantee work?
An incredible amount of e-mail comes into our office every day. We work around the clock to organize it, and then at precisely 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time we send it out to the appropriate writing consultants. That's when the 24 hours start ticking away. The consultants then have a certain amount of time to answer all their mail. They return the mail back to the office as they write it, at which point we process the mail and send it back to the students and parents. Meanwhile another batch of mail has arrived, has been organized, and is ready to get sent out to the consultants the next morning at 10:00 AM. Pacific Standard Time.
7. Can my son or daughter work at their own pace?
Absolutely. WriteGuide.com imposes no deadlines, and puts no time restraints on its clients except for the duration of your program. Whenever you write to your writing consultant, you'll receive a response in 24 hours.
